Description
The Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences will provide inspirational and visionary leadership and strategic direction for the department, recruit, mentor, and support faculty and staff to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and service; foster a collaborative inclusive, and innovative departmental culture; promote and support high-impact, externally funded research programs in pharmaceutical and administrative sciences; oversee departmental operations, including budgeting, personnel management, curriculum development, and assessment; collaborate with other department chair, school and university leadership, and external partners to advance the mission of the School of Pharmacy; advocate for departmental needs within the school and university; teach and contribute to the academic programs of the school, including PharmD, MS, and PhD education; engage in professional and community service consistent with university and school goals; and, maintain scholarly research endeavors.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Sciences or closely related discipline
- a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service achievement, commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor and be eligible for tenure
- demonstrated leadership experience in academic and/or research settings
- proven ability to secure and manage extramural research funding
- strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- scholarship within one of the field(s) of medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, or social and administrative sciences
Additional Beneficial Qualifications
- experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes
- understanding of and commitment to interprofessional education and research
- experience mentoring faculty, postdocs, and students
- ongoing extramural funding
