Larkin University College of Pharmacy (LUCOP) invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Student Success and Engagement. This leadership role is responsible for advancing initiatives that support student success, professional development, and engagement within the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Graduate programs. The Assistant Dean will collaborate with faculty, staff, and university partners to enhance student experience and support student progression throughout the curriculum. The position reports to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, serves on the College Executive Council, and holds a faculty appointment.
LUCOP’s accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and is an integrated three-year curriculum. Larkin University is a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3) university and consists of the College of Pharmacy, College of Biomedical Sciences, School of Physician Assistant Studies, and School of Dental Medicine. Key responsibilities:
Work in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy and University teams, including Department Chairs, Assistant Deans, and Directors, to advance student success and professional development.
- Design initiatives and provide leadership to support student academic success and progression within the PharmD and graduate programs.
- Oversee academic advising, mentoring, professionalism, and student support programs within the College of Pharmacy.
- Support student engagement, leadership development, and professional growth.
- Provide guidance to pharmacy student organizations and student activities.
- Promote student wellness and connect students with appropriate university resources.
- Collaborate with university student services, including disability and other support services.
- Support compliance with accreditation standards related to admissions, student services, and success.
- Develop and organize faculty development and wellness events to support student learning, faculty success, and professional growth
- Collaborate with the Office of Admissions and faculty to support holistic review and selection of applicants to the PharmD and graduate program.
- Serve on College of Pharmacy/University committees, including student-related committees.
Represent the college to external institutions, organizations, and agencies in building academic partnerships, including in admission and recruitment events.
- Participate in college leadership, faculty governance, and strategic initiatives.
Teach assigned courses and participate in academic activities in the areas of expertise.
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) in pharmacy practice, social and administrative sciences, and pharmaceutical sciences with academic experience in teaching, research, and service. Candidates should be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, strong communication and problem-solving skills are required. Preferred qualifications shall include experience supporting student success initiatives and familiarity with accreditation standards. This position is open to all candidates authorized to work in the United States.
